Guided Tours for Oxford and London

Guided Tours

London and its surrounding area is uniquely rich in cutural and historical interest. Be it Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle or the Tate Modern Art Gallery, the Whitechapel Haunts of Jack the Ripper in the "East End", or the galleries, museums and shopping of the "West End", there is something for everyone. Why not bring it to life with a professional tour guide?

A fascinating private guided tour is a wonderful way to add something extra special to your day out or short break. It is ideal for family and student groups, and for corporates looking for a different way of hosting clients and employees, especially if they are relatively and to London. The key idea is to blend a point of interest, perhaps a gallery, a museum or a themed walking tour (or a mixture) that attracts you with a schedule that suits your group, and to have fun! Your guide can open up hidden dimensions in familiar as well as new places.

Military History tours whether in London or abroad are increasingly popular. Some of the best military museums in the world are in London, often in spectacular locations like Horse Guards and Greenwich. The bicentenary of the Napoleonic Wars together with the upcoming centenary of World War 1 are driving interest in battlefields in The Peninsular and Western Front.

The Guide

Hugh is a professional Blue Badge Guide for London (see About Hugh, and Blue Badge) who qualified as Guide Of The Year in 2006. His clients include families, students, corporates and conference companies as well as specialist holiday companies (see Testimonials).

The Tours

Hugh specialises in cultural and historical tours of London, and short trips away from London. Please explore the range of ideas described in London and UK Tours.

Military History Tours

Hugh also leads specialist military history tours (see Military LondonNapoleonic Tours and World War 1-Western Front). This is an evolving range as the tours have proved so popular, so keep in touch with the web site for new developments.

What to do

Hugh's tours are by request which means that all you have to do is Contact Hugh to book a date then we can schedule your tour. All the tours are bespoke in that they can be adapted to fit in with your travel requirements. Coffee breaks and lunch (bearing in mind, say, the needs of children or hosting clients) can be built in, and planning the balance of time you wish to spend between walking and visiting a venue is addressed. Tours can be spiced up: you may wish a behind the scenes tour,  to fly the London Eye and travel by river, or to add particular points of interest that you may have of your own. Indeed, you can ask Hugh to create a completely individual tour for you. Perhaps you would like a talk and a walking tour through the neighbourhood of your office or home? (See Bespoke Service).
